From the beginning the story moves inexorably on. In The Land Ms. Matusky has created a space in time, complete with maps, illustrations and archetypal characters. Crystal Elderbee embarks on a journey similar to Percival’s quest for the grail. Each leg of the journey is designed to teach a lesson/give a test. Crystal learns courage, trust, loyalty, patience, and the futility of judging by outward appearances before she is ready to assume her role as leader of a kingdom. She must learn that power always comes through flawed human beings and should be channeled accordingly. For Crystal, as for all of us, it is on this journey that she learns or rather becomes who she is. This fantasy genre book is a joyful read.

Like all good fiction, Queen Crystal and The Land takes the reader through a leap of imagination enabling us to see our ordinary world with an extraordinary perspective. I have read numerous fiction and non-fiction, and I can tell you that women who read this book will love it. Publish The Land and they will read it!

The Land drew me into the story immediately. It is easy to get wrapped up in the reading of this, hoping at the end that a sequel is waiting. I was amazed that The Land was Mrs. Matusky's first book.
